Summary

Who still remembers the Khazars, the Jewish people whose kingdom stretched from the Caspian Sea to the Black Sea more than a thousand years ago? Originally, one of the first kings of this amazing people decided to adopt the law of Moses when it already meant exile and opprobrium in most countries.
Marc Sofer, a writer and historian of the Jewish people, knows this ancient civilization well. One day, he is contacted by Ephraim Yakubov, an atypical Georgian who assures him that he has discovered ancient Khazar remains.
But Yakubov disappears just as Sofer is beginning his investigation. At the same time, an attack, claimed by a small group calling itself "The Khazar Revival", is committed in Azerbaijan. For a vanished civilization, the Khazars are certainly making headlines!
