Summary
A harsh and touching epic journey through war-torn Chechnya. In the mid-1990s, a Russian mother tries to survive by selling pirated DVDs in the Moscow metro. She has no news of her son, a soldier on operations in Chechnya. One day, she reads his name on a list of prisoners. Volodya is in Chechen hands. At the same time, Basayev, the enemy general, announces through the press that he will release his prisoners if their Russian mothers come for them. Without means, listening only to her courage, her whimsical little dog under her arm, she sets off for this war-torn region to fetch her son...
